During any fast foods commercial, why is the camera really close to the foods?

Commercial of food chains(Taco Bell, Red Lobster, etc) have the camera really close to their foods?

It’s done so the viewer can see the food and how good it looks, so they’d be more inclined to buy it. Bottom line, it’s all about the Benjamins.

Be warned, though. Foods in ads (tv, mag, etc) are majorly “doctored-up.” They are strategically placed, they have oil brushed on them, water spritzed, dyes, and some foods in the ad (the ones that aren’t being advertised) aren’t even foods. For example: If you’re looking at a cereal ad, the photographer didn’t wanna deal with soggy cereal, so s/he used glue instead of milk. Burger patties are cooked only on the edges, the parts that are actually visible. These edges are brushed with oil to make them look juicier. In years past (no longer legal), soup ads employed marbles. The marbles were put into the soup bowl so that more chunks of meat and veggies and pasta, etc, would come to the surface, so the soup looked chunkier than it really was. Ah yes, and to keep ice cream from melting, many times (if it’s not the food being advertised), it’s not ice cream at all, but mashed potatoes.
